Brad Langenberg is a certified addiction counselor, professional interventionist, addiction counselor, interventionist, sober coach, and sober coach and recovery companion with over 35 years of experience specializing in the treatment of addiction and alcoholism, along with extensive work in behavioral health, recovery services, and trauma-informed care. As a Certified Substance Use Disorder Counselor (CADTP) and a member of the Association of Intervention Specialists (AIS), he brings a deeply compassionate, client-centered approach grounded in both clinical expertise and spiritual awareness. Brad works with individuals and families navigating substance use disorders, mental health challenges, and major life transitions, helping them reconnect not only to sobriety, but to a deeper sense of clarity, purpose, and inner stability.
Brad began his career in adolescent mental health at CPC Westwood Hospital and SeaBridge Adolescent Residential Treatment Center in Malibu. These early experiences shaped his lifelong commitment to helping individuals and families recover from addiction and rebuild their lives through skilled counseling and meaningful connection.
Throughout his career, Brad has maintained a strong clinical focus on addiction and alcoholism, while also developing a background working with individuals struggling with ADHD and OCD. His counseling approach helps clients better understand how these patterns can intersect with substance use, supporting them in building greater awareness, emotional regulation, and practical tools for daily functioning.
Since 1997, Brad has worked nationwide as a professional interventionist, utilizing trauma-informed approaches including the Storti Model, Breakfree, and Field Model. His work is highly personalized and grounded, supporting families in crisis with a steady, clear presence. He is often sought out by individuals and families who require a high level of trust, discretion, and depth in the work.
As a sober companion and recovery coach since 2005, Brad walks closely with clients as they transition from treatment into everyday life. His work emphasizes structure, accountability, and relapse prevention, while helping clients establish a solid foundation for long-term sobriety. He integrates mindfulness-based practices to help individuals become more aware of triggers, reduce reactivity, and respond to life with greater clarity.
A central element of Brad’s work is his integration of spiritual principles and mindfulness meditation. Drawing from years of personal practice, he helps clients learn how to pause, observe, and separate from destructive patterns, creating space for real and lasting change. Brad is also a pioneer in equine-assisted therapy, using the intuitive and non-verbal connection with horses as a powerful extension of his counseling work. Through decades of experience, he has helped individuals dealing with trauma learn first to identify and understand their trauma, and then begin the process of no longer being defined by it, supporting deeper healing beyond traditional talk therapy.
Over the past 25 years, he has developed and led equine programs for leading treatment centers and recovery organizations, including Clare Foundation, Beit T’Shuvah, Breathe Life Healing Center, Refuge Recovery, Polaris Teen Center, Miriam’s House, Caron Foundation, Transcend Recovery Community, Venice Teen Project (homeless adolescents), Midnight Mission, Bridges.
If you’re ready to start healing or want to help a loved one take the first step, Brad is here to help.
